How it works
A VPN is a private, encrypted tunnel between your device and our server. Everything you open travels through it, so the filter can check it on the way.

Install the free OpenVPN Connect app
It's the official app from OpenVPN. Safe VPN uses it to connect.

Your profile is the small file that lets the app connect to Safe VPN. Make one for each device you want to protect.

After step 2 you get a personal page with a download button and simple instructions for your phone or computer. Then tap Connect, and you're protected.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There's nothing to pay and no ads.
Will it slow down my internet?
A little. Your traffic takes a detour through our server, and its speed is shared with other users (around 70 Mbit/s in total). Browsing, WhatsApp and video calls work fine; very large downloads may be slower.
Why do I still see some ads in YouTube, Instagram or Facebook?
Those apps send their ads from the same servers as their videos and posts, so no filter like ours can block them without breaking the app. Ads in websites and most other apps are blocked.
What do you record about me?
Your name, WhatsApp number, when you connect and disconnect, the IP address you connect from, and the names of websites your device looks up (the filter needs these to work). We can't see the content of secure pages, your passwords or your messages. We don't sell or share your information, except where the law requires it.
A website I need is blocked. What can I do?
Filter lists sometimes block a site by mistake. Tell the Safe VPN admin the website's name and they can unblock it for everyone.
Android: I connected but nothing loads
Open Settings → Network & internet → Private DNS and choose Automatic or Off. A custom “Private DNS” provider tries to bypass the filter, so it's blocked.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. Create a separate profile for each device (up to 3 per WhatsApp number). That way a lost phone can be switched off without affecting your other devices.
How do I stop using it?
Tap Disconnect in the OpenVPN Connect app any time. To remove it completely, delete the profile in the app.
